PixSense’s New PSP Platform Streamlines Mobile Media Management

First of its kind to change the economics of sharing high-resolution media over wireless networks

Santa Clara, CA, May 01, 2007 – PixSense, a leading provider of multimedia management solutions, today announced its new PSP platform (Preserve, Share, Publish), which solves the problem of managing and sharing high-resolution media from mobile camera phones. The PSP Platform was built from both the consumer and carrier perspective, and is the first of its kind to change the economics of high-end media management over today’s mobile wireless data networks.

For carriers, PixSense’s PSP Platform overcomes the complexity of supporting high-resolution media files, enabling them to generate top-line revenue, reduce churn and OpEx. This solution, with its mobile-centric design, eliminates the hassles of intermittent network connectivity, low-bandwidth availability, and supports a wide range of mobile devices. Carriers can now host services to subscribers, while simultaneously giving subscribers complete control of their media.

For end users, the PSP Platform frees up previous constraints of not being able to easily share memories captured from the mobile phone. With “one click,” every digital clip taken is automatically uploaded online, and can be shared, blogged, pushed to 3rd party sites, and archived. Subscribers receive lifetime storage and full-featured galleries on both the Web and the phone.

The PixSense PSP Platform boasts several innovative features including a Media Content Management System (CMS) that breaks the barriers of mobile format incompatibility. The CMS manages digital media for various resolutions and sizes, auto-resizes various mobile screens, and auto-formats conversion of different mobile media formats.

Additionally, the PSP Platform’s Image Enhancement feature auto-corrects light conditions, diminishes noise and sharpens images. This provides end users with better quality images without having to upgrade camera phones. PixSense’s Patent-pending Bio-compression™ reduces photo size up to 90% with no perceptual loss of quality. Its Network Optimization breaks very large media files into smaller packets for transfer, while Intelligent Checkpoint resumes transmission from the last packet if network access drops.

“Taking pictures or shooting a video with your mobile phone is supposed to provide instant gratification, but if you can’t easily do anything with the media you’ve captured then gratification turns into frustration,” said Faraz Hoodbhoy, CEO of PixSense. “Our PSP Platform solves this problem by streamlining and simplifying the process of mobile media management for both carriers and end users. For the first time all parties involved can reap the benefits from mobile media.”
