PixSense Delivers Mobile User-Generated Content Management Solution Using Qualcomm’s BREW Solution

PixSense Application Offers up to 90 Percent Compression on JPEG Images

Santa Clara, CA – October 23, 2007 – PixSense, a global leader in mobile multimedia solutions, unveiled its support for Qualcomm’s BREW® with its PSP (Preserve, Share, Publish) application.  PixSense’s comprehensive solution allows mobile subscribers to upload their photos and videos to operator Web sites with a single click, share media files with friends on any CDMA or GSM network, and publish directly to any social networking site.  PixSense PSP will also assist operators in creating revenue-making opportunities by allowing them to monetize user-generated content (UGC) on mobile phones.  PixSense will demonstrate its application in Qualcomm booth #633 at CTIA Wireless I.T. and Entertainment 2007, being held October 23-25 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

For operators, the PixSense application enables a quick launch of new UGC-based, revenue-generating services. It can help reduce bandwidth costs for operators with its patented Bio-Compression, which can provide up to 90 percent compression on media such as photos and videos. Using PixSense’s PSP, operators will be able to host rich multimedia services for subscribers, empowering them to preserve, share, publish and manage media and data directly from their handsets. By providing services such as these, operators may also be able to reduce churn as they become the repository of subscribers’ valuable memories. To facilitate rapid deployment, PixSense presents its application on a hosted model basis, enabling operators to quickly go-to-market with lower operational costs.

“The ease and automation in which user-generated media can be managed between the phone and Web makes this solution uniquely valuable in the market today,” said Deepa Karthikeyan, analyst of wireless services for Current Analysis. “Sharing to and from any mobile or PC user, regardless of social networking or media uploading skill, effectively brings on-the-go community building to anyone.”

Every music clip, photo and video captured on a subscriber’s mobile phone is automatically uploaded in the background to the users’ controlled Web site account. PixSense enables transparent sharing between any two mobile phones on almost any network worldwide from mobile-to-mobile, mobile-to-web and web-to-PC, as well as synchronization between Web and mobile. Just as users can manage media between the phone and computer, the same easy-to-use experience is provided between the mobile handset and the Web site. The PixSense solution also offers mobile-blogging services and the ability to publish and share information with multiple social networking services directly from the handset or the web site.

“With user-generated content becoming such a popular service among today’s mobile community, it is encouraging to see developers like PixSense join the market and create effective, mobile, user-generated content solutions for BREW customers,” said Kathy Braegger, head of BREW developer relations for Qualcomm Internet Services. “With PixSense PSP, customers can manage their digital content, supporting Qualcomm’s goal of improving the overall customer experience with BREW.”

“PixSense’s PSP is an exciting solution that allows operators to target what was previously untapped revenue from mobile phones,” said R. Paul Singh, President and CEO of PixSense. “Now operators can easily provide a new range of services for their subscribers that takes full advantage of their multimedia mobile devices. This lets BREW subscribers enjoy greater freedom and creativity in managing and sharing memories.”

PixSense effectively bridges the gaps between advanced camera phone capabilities and consumer underutilization of these features. Its multimedia and persona management solutions incorporate advanced, patent-pending media compression technology, which can reduce the file size of photos and videos by up to 90 percent and optimizes network transmission while maintaining media quality. The PSP service is currently available on over 200 handsets, including BREW, and is in field trials with various wireless operators.

BREW solutions change the way people relate to wireless data services.  By enabling the discovery and delivery of high-value content, BREW creates opportunities for the wireless industry to enhance consumers’ mobile data experience.  Qualcomm’s comprehensive and targeted BREW Signature Solutions offer reduced time to market and lower capital investment for companies providing mobile products and services.  Customers also can benefit from several modular BREW offerings, including uiOne™, deliveryOne™ and QPoint™, which provide the foundation for customer-differentiated wireless data capabilities.
