PixSense Earns Merit Award Recognition at APICTA Show
PSP Platform named Communication Application winner
Santa Clara, CA – December 17, 2007 – PixSense, a leading provider of multimedia management solutions, today announced it is the winner of the APICTA Merit Award in the category of Communications Applications. The PixSense PSP (Preserve, Share, Publish) Platform earned the title for being the first mobile platform to enable mobile subscribers to easily and economically manage user generated media, from photos, videos, audio, blogs and text, right from their camera phones. It simplifies the process of organizing mobile media by extending sharing to other mobile phones, PCs and the web.
The distinguished Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Award is an international award that intends to increase information communication technology (ICT) awareness and promotes ICT innovations within respective member economies. This award and its auxiliary activities provide an excellent platform for networking, increasing awareness and product benchmarking to ICT innovators and entrepreneurs in the region. PixSense was selected to represent Pakistan in the 7th Annual APICTA Awards in Singapore after winning local Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) ICT Awards for Communication Application.
The PSP Platform enables users to focus on capturing photos or videos from wherever they are, and to share their media phone-to-phone, phone-to-web and web-to-phone, or PC-to-phone. Users can also directly publish captured and created content from the handset to third-party websites. The multimedia mobile phone is now part of the media persona of each user, providing a truly mobile extension of social and personal networking. PixSense’s technology also includes patent-pending, on-device media compression and network optimization technology that ensures fast transfers, while significantly reducing costs to both end users and mobile operators.
“Winning this award highlights the growing influence of mobile user-generated content and how PixSense is taking the lead to streamline the integration of this media with our current mobile lifestyles,” said Adnan Agboatwalla, GM, Off-shore operations for PixSense. “We are very proud to represent Pakistan and are inspired to continue developing simple solutions to mobilize media communication.”
PixSense’s PSP Platform allows mobile operators to host services to subscribers while giving them complete control of their media files right from the handset, including posting media to social networks and sharing media mobile- to-mobile via the Internet.
The PSP Platform is available as a hosted software service through mobile operators and is currently available on over 200 handsets, including BREW, J2ME and Symbian. It is also in field trials and deployments with various mobile operators in Asia and Europe.
