Technology
PixSense’s patent-pending innovations overcome technological barriers, making universal mobile photo sharing a reality for operators and their subscribers.
For mobile operators, user generated content services remain an untapped business opportunity. 100 Billion camera-phone photos were taken in 2005, yet less than 5% of user-generated media resulted in MMS messages.* Operators are held back by the network, storage, and device costs associated with these services, and users are limited by technology that restricts them to slowly pushing low resolution photos to friends on the same network.
PixSense applies a combination of innovative technologies to slash the expense of UGC services for operators while delivering a superior experience for their subscribers, including:
Patent-pending compression
Bio-Compression™ technology reduces the size of mobile photos and videos up to 90% without compromising media quality, enabling operators to offer storage and transfer of full-resolution photos and video at significantly lower costs, without the constraints of low available bandwidth.
Network optimization
PixSense’s packetization technology enhances the user experience by ensuring fast file transfers and eliminating the hassles of intermittent network connectivity. Very large media files are broken into smaller packets for transfer, and transmission automatically resumes from the last packet if network access drops.
Broad network and device support
PixSense’s solution is currently available on over 200 handsets and supports all popular operating environments including Qualcomm BREW, J2ME, Symbian and Microsoft Windows Mobile. It supports sharing of photos, video, and other media to any other mobile device, including those without PixSense software installed, leveraging existing operator infrastructure standards including CDMA, GPRS, CDMA, WAP, and SMS, or IP.
Ensure rapid deployment of photo and video sharing services
PixSense automatically adjusts photos, video, and other media for various resolutions and screen sizes and converts to suitable mobile media formats. Intelligent image enhancement adjusts light conditions, reduces noise, and sharpens images based on the capabilities of the device.
